HBOT Enhances Wound Healing
HBOT uses the combination of high pressure and pure oxygen to help your body heal itself faster at multiple levels. The oxygen that makes it into the lungs is based on the atmospheric pressure. Chamber creates a high-pressure environment during the HBOT treatment, so that more oxygen reaches into the lungs. The high level of oxygen in the lungs heads into the bloodstream and is delivered to cells throughout the body. In comparison to normal pressure situations, high-pressure environment allows cells to absorb more oxygen. Enough oxygen allows for improving the healing process in bones, cells and soft tissues. HBOT treatment exposes one to high qualities of high oxygen and stimulates the natural healing capabilities of the body.
The extra oxygen that enters into the system benefits the body in five different ways:
1.It can help in improving circulation by making the body create more blood vessels. The better circulation aid in faster healing of wounds.
2.HBOT injects more oxygen into lymphatic fluid, cerebral spine fluid, and plasma (blood’s liquid portion), all responsible for sending oxygen out to your tissues. They can send as much oxygen they have to the tissues, which is helpful in getting the body rid of viruses, bacterial and excess yeast.
3.Extra oxygen in tissues is also helpful in eliminating chronic health problems. Tissues that do not have enough oxygen can cause many issues. This impair functioning of tissues at normal levels or stop functioning altogether. High level of oxygen into the tissues helps in regaining normal function. And, moreover they do it quickly.
4.Extra oxygen improves the white blood cells activity. White blood cells need to be stronger in order to get rid of infections. Stronger white blood cells are helpful for the body to fight off infections before they develop.
5.Body system with extra oxygen can reduce inflammation around the body. Inflammation can be result of all sorts of things, such as allergies, infections, and exposure to toxins. Ageing process can also slow down if the body gets rid of inflammation.
In several cases, HBOT is used along with other treatments, such as physical therapy for speeding up the healing process.
1.What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?
Hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy involves breathing pure oxygen inside the treatment chamber, in order to give the body an increased amount of oxygen.
2.How does it work?
The air we breathe comprises 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen and small amounts of other gases. The human body is made to heal itself with a normal oxygen level, but in certain conditions extra oxygen is needed. The pressure in the chamber during HBO therapy is increased with more than 90% purity oxygen. Breathing oxygen under pressure results in larger amount of oxygen to be dissolved in the blood and rest of the body. Body uses this extra oxygen in many ways. Improved levels of oxygen in bloodstream is helpful in improving wound healing by reducing swelling, stimulating growth of new blood vessels and keeping infection under control.
3.How long is the treatment?
Each session is of 60-90 minutes and conducted 5-7 Times per week. Doctors recommend going through this therapy continuously every day, and one time in a day is enough.
4.Are there any side effects?
Hyperbaric treatment causes no side effects. Some people might feel tired, while some might feel popping in their ears after the treatment. This therapy might cause small changes in vision in patients, but these changes are temporary. It is recommended to visit your Hyperbaric Unit technician or doctor immediately if this continues.
5.How will it feel?
Patients might feel change in pressure in their ears when chamber inflates, just like when descending in an airplane. As the chamber equalizes, the patients would not have any discomfort. The treatment allows the patients to entertain themselves by watching videos and listening to music by their phone and pad. They can also close their eyes and relax. The chamber pressure reduces at the end of the treatment. This is the phase when the patients would feel their ears “popping”. The ears can be cleared by yawning, chewing and swallowing. The feeling returns to the normal once the chamber is completely pressurized.
